Comparison between magnetic resonance imaging and single-photon emission tomography for the assessment of myocardial salvage after coronary revascularization in acute myocardial infarction
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background Myocardial salvage is an important surrogate endpoint assessing the success of coronary reperfusion in acute myocardial infarction. Single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT), the established modality for assessment of myocardial salvage, is logistically demanding and associated with a considerable radiation exposure. The combination of T2 and late-enhancement imaging in cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) can assess myocardial salvage in one examination, but up to now data comparing both modalities is very limited.

OBJECTIVES This study sought to compare cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) and single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) for assessment of area at risk, scar size, and salvage area after coronary reperfusion in acute myocardial infarction. BACKGROUND Myocardial salvage is an important surrogate endpoint assessing the success of coronary reperfusion in acute myocardial infarction. SPECT...
متن کاملPrediction of Changes in Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction after Off-Pump Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting Surgery by Myocardial Perfusion Single-Photon Emission Computed Tomography
Introduction: Left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) is considered to be the single most important prognostic factor in patients with previous myocardial infarction. LVEF is not improved in all patients after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). This study aimed to assess the possibility of prediction of LVEF changes after CABG using myocardial perfusion gated signle photon emission compu...

Purpose: To assess the relationship between the severity of coronary arteries involvement and the extent and pattern of myocardial scars in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance of patients with history of remote myocardial infarction. Materials and Methods: The Cardiac Magnetic Resonance images of sixty patients with history of remote ST segment or non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction were ...
متن کاملCardiovascular magnetic resonance of the myocardium at risk in acute reperfused myocardial infarction: comparison of T2-weighted imaging versus the circumferential endocardial extent of late gadolinium enhancement with transmural projection
BACKGROUND In the situation of acute coronary occlusion, the myocardium supplied by the occluded vessel is subject to ischemia and is referred to as the myocardium at risk (MaR). Single photon emission computed tomography has previously been used for quantitative assessment of the MaR. It is, however, associated with considerable logistic challenges for employment in clinical routine. Recently,...
